Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Conejo Free Clinic.

The CFC offers a friendly and hassle-free environment in which to practice, collaborate with colleagues, and make a difference in your community. Our many volunteers come for the same reason - to provide high quality care in a practical manner to appreciative patients. Volunteer providers are invited to practice as often as they feel comfortable.

The Clinic invests time and resources in training our volunteers, therefore we require a commitment of at least one year. We cannot accommodate requests for short-term volunteer opportunities and do not offer shadowing opportunities.

Administrative Volunteers

The Conejo Free Clinic relies on dozens of administrative volunteers annually to provide staffing for a variety of support operations. Most of our volunteers choose to work one or more days a week or month or whatever their schedule permits. Administrative volunteers help screen new patients to determine their eligibility, serve as translators (especially Spanish), maintain medical records, help with facility maintenance and data entry/statistics compilation. In addition, there are special projects from time to time that are focused efforts.

Medical and Dental Professional Volunteers

Our medical and dental clinics rely on volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants staff our clinics. Some of our specialists see our patients in their private practices where they are better suited to meet the patients’ needs. Many volunteer providers choose to work one or more days a month or whatever their schedule permits and find volunteering at CFC to be very rewarding.

To volunteer, providers must be licensed in California. The Clinic maintains a malpractice policy for the volunteer providers.

Legal Volunteers

We assist clients in the areas of family law, immigration, bankruptcy, wills/trusts and tenant/landlord disputes. If you are interested in becoming a Legal Volunteer and are licensed to practice law in the state of California, please complete the Volunteer Application under the Volunteer tab on our website.

Current Volunteer Needs

We are currently in need more volunteer nurses, physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and attorneys. Most volunteer physicians and dentists work one, four hour shift a month, but we also have volunteers who serve weekly or biweekly. Morning clinic shift is from 9 am – 12 pm and afternoon is from 1 pm – 5 pm.
